DECLARATION UNDER SECTION 21 OF THE FIREARMS ACT 1968

It is an offence for a person who is prohibited by Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 to have a firearm or ammunition in his/her possession at any time.

This Section applies to any person who has been sentenced to imprisonment, a suspended term of imprisonment or to youth custody or detention in any young offenders institution for three months or more.

A person sentenced to a suspended or term of imprisonment period between 3 months and 3 years is prohibited for 5 years from the date of release.

A person sentenced to a suspended or term of imprisonment of 3 years or more is prohibited for life.

It is an offence for a person to transfer, let, hire, or lend a firearm or ammunition to someone whom he/she knows or has reasonable grounds for believing to be a prohibited person.

I expressly agree that I shall not have any claim of any description against WOLVERINE QTG, SHEPPEY FIREARMS AND ARCHERY CLUB and it’s organisers / Committee / Club Members / Workers / Clients / Original Land Owner in the event of any damage or loss arising in the manner set forth.

If I act as a Range/ safety officer I also take full responsibility and liability for the range that I take, all actions that take place on that range and all the people and actions of the people on the ranger that time period. I also take full responsibility and undertake to adhere to all relevant laws, and range rules as set out by SHEPPEY FIREARMS AND ARCHERY CLUB pertaining to acting as a Range / Safety officer, shooting ranges and the handling and firing of firearms.

The Airgun Proficiency Course (APC) offers training for professional pest control operatives. Recreational airgun shooters with LANTRA-accredited training in safe and effective practices. The management of pests and vermin.

This nationally available and easily accessible course consists of two components: a theoretical delivered and assessed online via through series of interactive taught and exams and exams, practical assessment, carried assessment conducted in the field ‘Approved Verifier’ 'Approved Verifier' area.

The theoretical component of the course addresses essential topics, including airgun legislation in both England and Wales, as well as Scotland. It provides best practice guidance for the safe handling and storage of airguns, emphasizes the importance of controlling vermin and preventing the spread of disease, and covers appropriate equipment selection—such as types of airguns, optics, and night vision. Additionally, the course includes an understanding of ballistics, marksmanship, trajectory, windage, and retained energy. It also fosters an appreciation of which pests may be legally shot and the requirements for achieving an effective and humane kill. 

The candidate's understanding of the syllabus is assessed through the platform via a series of multiple-choice examinations examinations, culminating in a timed, timed exam.

Upon successful completion of the theoretical component, candidates are required to undertake the practical shooting & and assessment, which may be carried conducted individual or group basis.

During the practical assessment, candidates must demonstrate to the satisfaction of an ‘Approved verifier' ability to apply what they have learned to handle and use an airgun safely and accurately through a series of well-placed shots at a target.

‘Approved Verifiers’ are available throughout the UK. Upon completing the theoretical component the course, course, both and candidates are receive list of ‘Approved Verifiers’, who Verifiers’ off are responsible for signing the practical element of component course.

Upon successfully completing both the theoretical and practical components of the APC course, candidates are awarded a LANTRA-certified certificate.
